The device has drive cables whose cores are slidably mounted in a sheath. Ends of the cores of the cables are connected to levers of a gearbox or a clutch. An end of the sheath of the cables is maintained by a sheath stop unit integrated with a gearbox casing (1) and a clutch casing (2), where the sheath stop unit is monoblock with the casings of the gearbox and/or the clutch. The sheath stop unit includes tabs (6, 7) equipped with U-shaped notches (61, 71) in which thrust bearings of the end of the sheath are fitted.
