The method involves displacing a combustion engine into a freewheel state, and controlling excessive fixation of individual cylinders such that a combustion engine is operated on a stationary operating point. A test program is performed to determine fuel injection amounts (Qkst-zylx) of the cylinders of the internal combustion engine. Rotational speed of one of the cylinders is compared to rotational speed of other cylinders. Calibrated fuel injection amounts for the cylinders are determined such that a cylinder equalization is achieved. An independent claim is also included for a combustion engine comprising cylinders.
