<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a car navigation apparatus capable of calculating a correct present position. <P>SOLUTION: When a vehicle runs a specific lane 120 which may reach a branch road 130 if the vehicle runs without changing the lane and turns to the branch road 130, display candidate points are calculated on an escape link 171 concerned with the branch road 130. When calculating an error cost value ec of the display candidate points, a value of a coefficient γ is reduced.
