<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus and an image forming method exhibiting an excellent cleaning property and a transfer property while achieving a non-heating fixing with a toner having a small particle diameter. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes a charging device charging the surface of a photoreceptor drum, an exposure device forming an electrostatic latent image on the surface of the charged photoreceptor drum, a liquid developing device developing the electrostatic latent image on the surface of the photoreceptor drum by use of a liquid developer, and a transfer device transferring the developed image onto a recording medium. The image forming apparatus is characterized in that: the liquid developer comprises an electric insulating liquid, a dispersion stabilizer and toner base particles containing a coloring material and a binder resin and has a viscosity of 10 mPa s or more and 175 mPa s or less (at a measurement temperature of 20°C); the toner base particles have a D50 of 0.05 μm or more and 1 μm or less; when a thin layer is formed on a developing roller surface with the liquid developer and charged by a developing roller charging device, the surface potential of the thin layer decreases, at one second after charging, by 10% or more and 80% or less of the potential at 0 second after charging; and the image forming apparatus does not have any heating fixing mechanism. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
