PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disc brake and a railway vehicle disc brake, capable of forcibly opening a pad clearance on an opposite piston side upon the releasing of the brake.SOLUTION: A disc brake 11 is equipped with a base portion 15 slidably supported by a support 13 through a guide pin; a floating caliper 25 which has a pair of pressing arms sandwiching the base portion 15 from both sides of a disc rotor; brake pads 27 opposing to a side surface of the disc rotor, and respectively provided on the pair of the pressing arms; a drive piston 29 provided on one pressing arm of the pair of the pressing arms for driving one of the brake pads 27 toward the side surface of the disc rotor; and a caliper returning device 31 elastically energizing the floating caliper 25 to the support 13 toward the opposite side to the drive piston, and holding a clearance between the support 13 and the other pressing arm at a predetermined interval.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
