<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sensor target and a rotation angle detecting apparatus capable of ensuring degree of freedom of installation while suppressing a complicated configuration. <P>SOLUTION: In a sensor target 31, a plurality of magnetized sites M1 to M8 are set in a rotational direction thereof. Each of the magnetized sites M1 to M8 is double-pole magnetized in an aspect in which a magnetization direction changes in a circumferential direction of a circular cross section obtained by cutting a torus in its radial direction. Specifically, if the sensor target 31 rotates, the magnetization is performed such that the magnetization direction of each of the magnetized sites M1 to M8 changes in a sinusoidal manner as viewed from a magnetic sensor 32. Then, the sensor target 31 is mounted on an outer peripheral surface of an output shaft, and moreover, the magnetic sensor 32 is provided opposed to the outer peripheral surface of the target. Thus, when the sensor target 31 rotates, a direction of a magnetic field applied to the magnetic sensor 32 changes in a sinusoidal manner.
