<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a inverted siphon for a sewer or a rainwater drain, capable of dealing with a rapid swell, useful for exchanging resident water, and preventing organic contaminants from becoming rotten and bad odors from occurring, to solve the problem that a rapid swell caused by local torrential rain due to abnormal weather washes sediment which has occurred in a low-flow season in the horizontal pipe part to the end of the horizontal pipe to clog up, and the problem that bad odors often occurs in a low-flow season due to long stay of water in the inverted siphon. <P>SOLUTION: A main inverted siphon 1 contains a small-diameter inverted siphon 2 allowing a small amount of water to flow with a high priority. The bottom of the small-diameter inverted siphon 2 is disposed in contact with the bottom of the main inverted siphon 1 in the horizontal pipe parts of the inverted siphons. The downstream bottom edge of the small-diameter inverted siphon 2 is provided with a mud suction opening 13 which communicates with the main inverted siphon 1 to remove sediment in the main inverted siphon 1 at all times.
