PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To measure vertical strain and shear strain in a discretionary in-plane direction accurately and reliably in a planar surface portion of an object to be measured having uniform strain distribution successively without touching.SOLUTION: In an image in which an n-polygonal element (n is 3 or 4) added to the surface of an object 10 to be measured is imaged using imaging means 1, the displacement of each vertex coordinate of the n-polygonal element is calculated on the basis of a difference between the pre-deformation state of the n-polygonal element and the post-deformation state of the n-polygonal element, a displacement-strain matrix of the n-polygonal element is created by a finite element method (FEM) using the calculated displacement of each vertex coordinate, and vertical strain and shear strain in two orthogonally intersecting directions in the object 10 to be measured are calculated.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
