摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat exchange element in which a damage hardly occurs at a sealing part and a superior heat exchanging performance is attained.SOLUTION: A heat exchange element includes a honeycomb structure 1 made of silicon carbide in which a plurality of cells 10 divided into polygonal columnar segments are arranged with partition walls 1a extending in an axial direction. The plurality of cells 10 are constituted of a plurality of first cells 10A where first fluid flows and a plurality of second cells 10B where second fluid flows, the plurality of first cells 10A are arranged side-by-side to form a first cell row 30 and the plurality of second cells 10B are arranged side-by-side to form a second cell row 40. The first cell row 30 and the second cell row 40 are made in such a way that at least one of both axial end surfaces is sealed by the seal parts 13 and 23, and axial insides of the seal parts 13 and 23 are provided with merging passages 14 and 24 where each of the cells 10 in the cell rows is commonly opened and merged. The merging passages 14 and 24 are opened at the side surfaces of the honeycomb structure 1. The seal parts 13 and 23 are constituted of seal material containing silicon carbide of 40 mass% or more and less than 50 mass%.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
