<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a converter controller for reducing a converter load, and having a function for deactivating a converter before a main circuit protection operation starts at an approach of the next feeder section, and then implementing an operation again even if a vehicle approaches a dead section in a state that a power balance occurs due to a regenerative brake. <P>SOLUTION: The converter controller comprises a converter apparatus 5 for converting an AC power supplied by an AC overhead power supply through a main transformer 3 into a DC power, an inverter apparatus 6 for converting the DC power into the AC power at a variable frequency and controlling a vehicle-driving electric motor 8, a power supply apparatus 7 connected to the DC side of the inverter apparatus in parallel with the inverter apparatus to supply a voltage to an auxiliary circuit in the vehicle with power, a determination means for determining an abnormality in the power supply if an interval between zero-crosses of an overhead voltage is out of a predetermined allowable variation range, and a converter control means for causing the converter apparatus to be deactivated when the determination means determines the abnormality in the power supply. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
