The invention relates to cis-tetrahydrospiro(cyclohexane-1,1'-pyrido[3,4-b]indol)-4-amine derivatives which act on the nociceptin/ORL-1 receptor system and also on the µ-opioid receptor system and are notable in particular for selective activity in the treatment of chronic pain (including inflammatory pain, visceral pain, tumoral pain, preferably neuropathic pain) without at the same time developing any pronounced activity in respect of acute, nociceptive pain.
