<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a seat belt device capable of providing a proper energy absorbing characteristic in response to a state when operating an emergency lock mechanism. <P>SOLUTION: A motor 10 is arranged for imparting rotational driving force to a belt reel 12, and a clutch is arranged between the motor 10 and the belt reel 12. A torque limiting means is arranged for limiting torque between the motor 10 and the belt reel 12, by idly rotating a part of a power transmission part with predetermined resistance, when torque exceeding a predetermined value acts between the motor 10 and the belt reel 12. An absorbing energy control means 65 is arranged for controlling the existence of addition of the energy absorbing function by the torque limiting means when operating the emergency lock mechanism 22 by controlling ON-OFF of the clutch in response to behavior and predicted behavior of an occupant after operating the emergency lock mechanism 22. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
