Further disclosed is a wavelength conversion method. The optical communication processing device (11) that performs processing of an optical signal that enters/exits a WDM optical network (10a) has an optical wavelength address conversion unit that associates at least one external wavelength (?AD, ?AU) allocated from an external network (20) and a plurality of internal wavelengths (?1D-?nU, ?1U-?nU) independently used within the optical network, and in accordance with the association, performs wavelength conversion between the external wavelength and the plurality of internal wavelengths.
