<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology which can ensure quick feeding of a following paper after completing image formation on a preceding paper. <P>SOLUTION: Every time when a paper is conveyed by a predetermined distance D1 in the sub-scanning direction by rotating a conveyance/paper-discharge roller, the image forming apparatus carries a carriage mounted with a recording unit in the main scanning direction and forms a series of images on the paper by making the recording unit discharge ink droplets. Furthermore, a following paper is taken out and conveyed by rotating a paper feed roller in order to convey a paper by the distance D1 by means of a conveyance roller. At the time when the rear end of a preceding paper passes between an intermediate roller and a paper sensor located between the conveyance roller and the paper feed roller, only the preceding paper is conveyed by the distance D1, and the following paper is inhibited from being taken out and conveyed (time T2). At a moment in time when the rear end of a preceding paper passes the position of a paper sensor, the following paper is conveyed to the position of the intermediate roller at a high speed, and the following paper is fed to the conveyance roller after completing image formation on the preceding paper (time T3). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
