摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology for facilitating identification of respective failure occurrence portions in a CWDM device without reducing the number of communication bands. <P>SOLUTION: A coarse wavelength division multiplex device includes: a plurality of optical channels; an optical multiplex/demultiplex section; a plurality of transmission side optical branch sections; an optical level monitor section; and a failure information output section. The plurality of the optical channels convey optical signals with respective different wavelengths. The optical multiplex/demultiplex section multiplexes the optical signal incident from each optical channel and transmits the multiplexed optical signal to the outside, and demultiplexes the multiplexed optical signal received from the outside and outputs the demultiplexed optical signal individually to the other end of the each optical channel. The plurality of the transmission side optical branching sections make the transmission side optical signal output from one end side to the other end side branch. The optical level monitor section monitors the transmission side optical signal of the each optical channel and outputs abnormality information indicating the optical channel which cannot detect the transmission side optical signal.
