<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide powder excellent in moldability for a magnetic member, a powder compact obtainable from the powder, the magnetic member suitable for a rare earth refrigeration material, and a method of manufacturing the magnetic member. <P>SOLUTION: Each magnetic particle 1 composing the powder for the magnetic member comprises less than 40 vol.% of a hydrogen compound 3 of lanthanum (LaH<SB POS="POST">2</SB>) and a remainder of iron containing materials 2 containing an Fe-Si alloy. The phases of the hydrogen compound 3 of lanthanum exist in a discrete state in the phases of the iron containing materials 2. Since the phases of the iron containing materials uniformly exist in the magnetic particle 1, the powder is excellent in moldability, and flexibility of the shape of the powder compact and the magnetic member manufactured from the powder compact is improved as well. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
