<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrically heated catalytic device that effectively removes deposits of soot through combustion by a compact constitution even if the soot in exhaust gas accumulates on an inner wall of an outer casing accommodating an electrically heated catalyst. <P>SOLUTION: The electrically heated catalytic device 10 includes the electrically heated catalyst 13 accommodated in the outer casing 12 provided at an exhaust pipe. A heater ring 18 formed of an insulating material is provided adjacent to an outer peripheral edge of an upstream end face of the electrically heated catalyst 13. The heat of the electrically heated catalyst 13 is transferred to the heater ring 18 by energizing and heating the electrically heated catalyst 13. When the soot in the exhaust gas accumulates on the surface of the heater ring 18, the deposits of the soot C is removed through combustion by the heat from the surface of the ring. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
