<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a sheet of required size on which an image is formed, even when an image is formed on a sheet of alternate size as a result of consuming sheets of required size. <P>SOLUTION: In an image forming apparatus, when a sheet load detection sensor detects that a sheet A4 of required size is not loaded on a cassette, a feed roller corresponding to a cassette on which an alternate sheet A3 in an integral multiple of the required size are loaded feeds out the alternate sheet to an image forming section, and an image is formed in the image forming section.
