<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pulse rate specifying method constituted so as to prevent frequency to be set in pulsation from being overlooked. <P>SOLUTION: The pulse photometer includes: a frequency spectrum conversion part 10a for obtaining the frequency L and amplitude A in all of the peaks of a frequency spectrum from the frequency spectrum of a measured signal; a frequency correlation degree calculation part 10b for calculating a frequency correlation degree Id at every peak from the difference between the frequency L in all of the peaks of the frequency spectrum and the preceding pulsation frequency Lo being the frequency of pulsation immediately before a predetermined time zone; an amplitude correlation degree calculation part 10c for calculating an amplitude correlation degree (a) at every peak from the amplitude A in all of the peaks of the frequency spectrum; a synthetic correlation degree calculation part 10d for calculating a synthetic correlation degree Dis at every peak from the frequency correlation degree Id at every peak and the amplitude correlation degree (a) at every peak; and a pulse rate specifying part 10e for specifying the frequency of a peak becoming maximum in the synthetic correlation degree Dis as the pulse rate M(t) of the predetermined time zone.
