<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid state image pickup device capable of enhancing utilization efficiency of a circuit without largely increasing a number of circuits, and capable of widening a dynamic range. <P>SOLUTION: A solid state image pickup device includes means to connect a column amplifier in a row with another column amplifier in a different row, while knee correction is applied on a picture signal by using a column amplifier in a row to be read out and another column amplifier in a different row not to be read out to widen a dynamic range of the picture signal when the signal is input to an AD converter in thinning-out operation. A gain value lower than setting gain of normal operation is applied to the column amplifier in the row not to be read out, and the picture signal is being offset by a specific knee voltage to be output. At the point when the output level at a normal output side exceeds the specific knee voltage, the picture signal can be switched to be output from the row not to be read out. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
