<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make the available time of a transfer belt longer by suppressing the increase of the load torque of the transfer belt, without increasing the cost. <P>SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus includes a CPU 200 determining the degree of deterioration of a primary transfer belt 131, based on a difference (S506) between the current consumption (S503) of a main motor 201 detected by a main motor current detection part 203 without applying a voltage to a transfer sheet 132 by a primary transfer bias circuit 205 and the current consumption (S505) of the main motor 201 detected by the main motor current detection part 203 by applying a voltage to the transfer sheet 132 by the primary transfer bias circuit 205, and controlling the voltage applied to the transfer sheet 132 by the primary transfer bias circuit 205 according to the degree of deterioration (S507 to S515). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
