摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform the efficient detection range adjustment of infrared rays while suppressing a detection error caused by the disturbance of sunlight or lighting from the inside or outside of a building. <P>SOLUTION: This escalator includes a plurality of steps connected between an entrance and an exit with no clearance, parapets erected at both right an left sides of the steps, handrails mounted around the parapets so as to be linked with the steps, inlets formed as draw-in ports of the handrails, and sensor storage parts and safety devices. Each of the safety devices has a sensor for detecting the sensor-detected temperature of a foreign matter and an environmental temperature, and previously detects the status that the foreign matters can be drawn into the inlet part on the basis of comparison results of the sensor-detected temperature and the environmental temperature and outputs an alarm toward a passenger. The sensor-detecting range of the sensor part is within the width of the handrail out of the outer peripheral face of the handrail, and it is selectively adjusted within a lower region of a circular arc face ranging from a contact point on a tangent drawn from the sensor to the outer peripheral face of the handrail to the inlet. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT
