The present invention is directed to a method of treating or maintaining protection from episodic gastrointestinal disturbances, by providing a composition comprising a probiotic microorganism and chocolate wherein said probiotic microorganism is selected from the group consisting of and mixtures thereof; and administering said composition to a mammal.
