<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem of the conventional device for outputting confidential information in which exclusive detection software and the like are required to detect any information embedded in an image using what is termed digital watermark technology. <P>SOLUTION: The device for outputting confidential information comprises: an image storage unit capable of storing a first image and a second image; and an output unit for overlapping the first and second images to output the overlapped image. The first image is created by performing zero or more processings on an original image among the following three processings: an embedding processing for embedding confidential information in an image by changing a pixel value in a region in which the confidential information is to be embedded for a predetermined numeric value compared to the state before embedding the confidential information, a reversal processing for reversing the pixel value of an image, and a translucent processing for making an image translucent. The second image is created by performing processings unapplied to the first image among the three processings on the original image.
