摘要 Disclosed are a display device and an illumination device wherein it is possible to reduce the size of the device when a plurality of types of light sources emitting light of various wavelengths is used. With regard to the central rays of light (red laser beam (Lr), green laser beam (Lg), and blue laser beam (Lb)) emitted to an optical path converting member (12) from three light sources (red laser (11R), green laser (11G), and blue laser (11B)) within a light source unit (11) and the central rays of light exiting from the optical path converting member (12), the optical path converting member (12) converts the optical path in a manner such that the angle of the central rays of light exiting from the optical path converting member (12) is smaller than the angle of the central rays of light entering to the optical path converting member (12). As a consequence, it is possible to convert the optical path as mentioned above without using a large-scale optical system (optical member).
