A base station and method for preventing random access collision are disclosed in the present invention. The method includes the following steps: when an error occurs in the transmission of message 3, an evolved NodeB (eNB) performs analysis according to the offline preamble collision detection result; if the error of message 3 is caused by strong interference, the eNB notifies the user to give up the retransmission of message 3 and initiates a random access again; and if the transmission error of message 3 is caused by the channel fading or noise burst, notifies the user to continue the retransmission. According to the technical solutions of the present invention, the negative effect to the system and users caused by the collision in the random access procedure can be relieved to a certain extent. By analyzing the reasons for the error of message 3, the utilization ratio of the frequency spectrum is increased, and the contribution of the frequency spectrum to the throughput is increased, and the user random access time is reduced.
