Electrodes; electrolytes, circulating.- The electrodes of a battery are constructed so as to allow penetration and circulation of e]ectroh'te, and as shown in Fig. 1 each electrode comprises a central stem 13 from which project a number of arms A carrying corrugated strips 14 to support the active material. All or some of the arms A are hollow and perforated and open at one end and they may be supported at their outer ends by a bar 18. When the battery is in operation the evolved gases pass in and out of the arms A causing a flow of electrolyte from the exterior to the interior of the electrode. |
