SILANE-CROSSLINKED POLYETHYLENE, ELECTRIC WIRE, AND CABLE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a silane-crosslinked polyethylene exhibiting the high crosslinking degree, smooth appearance after extrusion molding, and reduced shrink back, and to provide an electric wire and a cable.

SOLUTION: The silane-crosslinked polyethylene is obtained by crosslinking a polyethylene produced by graft copolymerization of a silane compound with a free radical generating agent. In the silane-crosslinked polyethylene: 1.5 pt.wt. or more of the silane compound is contained based on 100 pts.wt. of the polyethylene; a ratio of the addition amount of the silane compound to that of the free radical generating agent is 35 or more; and a melt index of the polyethylene produced by graft copolymerization of the silane compound with the free radical generating agent is 5 g/10 min or less under the test condition of 190°C and 21.18 N.
