<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple and inexpensive handwriting input/output system capable of inputting characters, figures and the like in handwriting. <P>SOLUTION: There is provided a simple and inexpensive handwriting input/output system capable of inputting characters, figures and the like in handwriting by imaging and transmitting a medium provided with a write area formed by a stream dot pattern by imaging means, storing image data of the dot pattern and calculating locus information by code analysis by dot pattern analysis means, recognizing the locus information of characters and figures traced on the write area surface based on variations of analyzed coordinate information by locus recognition means, and transmitting a processing instruction based on recognition information recognized by processing instruction means and the locus information to information processing means.
