NOVEL RET FUSED BODY DETECTION METHOD

Disclosed is a method which elucidates polynucleotides which are new cancer-causing genes, and thus detects the polynucleotides, or polypeptides which the polynucleotides code. Also disclosed are a kit and a primer set for the detection method. It has been found that a fusion gene which is formed of part of a KIF5B gene and part of an RET gene, and is present in part of a cancer patient is a cancer-causing gene, and a method for detecting polynucleotides, which are said gene, and polypeptides, which the polynucleotides code, has been formulated. In the method, the fusion gene formed of part of a KIF5B gene and part of an RET gene, or the fusion protein which the gene codes is detected. The primer set and the kit for detection include a sense primer which is designed from a portion which codes KIF5B, and an anti-sense primer which is designed from a portion which codes RET.
