<p>A process for producing compounds represented by formula (III), which comprises a step (1) of reacting a compound represented by formula (I) with bromine in the presence of both water and a bromide salt to form a compound represented by formula (II), and a step (2) of reacting the compound represented by formula (II) with a cyanide in the presence of a metal-cyano complex and/or a 1,3-dicarbonyl compound to form a compound represented by formula (III).
