<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new compound and an organic light-emitting device that can be driven at low voltage, that achieves output of light with high efficiency and high luminance, and that exhibits luminous hue with high color purity. <P>SOLUTION: The condensed polycyclic compound comprises linearly arranged four five-member rings and is represented by general formula [1].
