<p>A method, communication device and system are provided for identifying and scheduling events, such as meetings and appointments identified in data items such as messages and electronic documents. Content relating to an event is identified within the data item, and date information for the identified event is determined based on the content of the data item or other contextual information. An availability status in respect of the event is determined by querying a data store, such as a calendar store, to determine whether the date and time associated with the identified event is free or in conflict. Once the availability status is determined, the data item may be displayed at the communication device together with a visual indicator of the availability status. The identified event in the data item may be actuatable to create an event item for storage in the data store.</p> |
