<p>Leg exercise apparatus 10 characterised by two actuators 12, 14 (e.g. foot press plates) for exercising each leg independently, comprising a variable resistance arrangement 16 and one or more connector 18, 28, 38 which are arranged to enable the actuators 12, 14 to be independently moved and for the resistance provided for each of the actuators 12, 14 to be different. The level of exercise for each leg may be chosen as appropriate for those with temporary or permanent impairment, disability or injury to a leg. The variable resistance arrangement may be adjustable weights, friction means (e.g. friction wheel), resilient members (e.g. springs or elastomeric materials) or gas compression cylinders. The connection means may be pulleys or gears. The actuators may be move along linear or curved tracks or may be pivoted. The apparatus may be used to perform push out exercises, leg straighten exercises and leg curl exercises.</p> |
