METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR INPUTTING CHARACTER IN A PORTABLE TERMINAL

PURPOSE: An apparatus for inputting character using a mobile terminal and a method thereof are provided to offer a character input guide line to a user by expecting an inputting character. CONSTITUTION: A mobile terminal expects the next input character based on searched words(203). The mobile terminal reduces the key area corresponding to characters which are not predicted on a virtual keypad. If a character among the predicted character is not selected, the mobile terminal checks temporary cancelation event of the virtual keypad control function(207,209). The mobile terminal restores the reduced key areas(211).
