Handling device and method for emptying a folding box

The device i.e. folding box gripper (1), has a frame (3) provided with a frame aperture. The frame is inverted over a folding box (2), and is provided at a folding box retention device (8). A lid flap retention device (13) and a bottom flap retention device (14) are arranged at the frame for preventing pivoting of a lid flap (15). A bottom flap of the folding box is arranged in a folded-shut position (ZS). The lid flap retention device comprises a pivotable work area (17). A hand gripper (21) is arranged in the pivotable work area. A support (24) is provided with a work area sensor. An independent claim is also included for a method for emptying a folding box with a handling device.
