Security document and method for its production

The document (1) has a carrier substrate (1a) with which a safety foil element (2) is connected. The foil element comprises two layers, where each layer has a safety identification e.g. half-tone image, which is formed by a group of micro-perforations (4) in the appropriate layer. The safety identification is visually detectable when viewing the document with transmitted light. Information or part of information is formed when viewing the safety identifications with transmitted light. The foil element is covered by an optional lamination with a transparent plastic foil. An independent claim is also included for a method for producing a security document.
