Device and method for transferring a non-woven web

The device has an endless circulating output conveyor belt (4) accepting card webs that are laid on the output conveyor belt by a fleece-laying machine (2), where the webs form a non-woven material. A drive unit (24) drives the belt at a variable speed. Another drive unit (40) drives the belt at a constant speed, where the latter drive unit is arranged at a point relative to the former drive unit and closer to a consolidation device (20) e.g. needle loom. The belt has a hanging section acting as a hanging storage buffer and located between the drive units. An independent claim is also included for a method for transferring a non-woven material from a fleece-laying machine to a consolidation device.
