The assembly (1) has an electronic reading unit (3) e.g. barcode reader and radio frequency identification (RFID) reader, for reading information from an information providing unit (4) e.g. barcode strip and RFID responder, in a rack (2) without electrical contact to the rack. The reading unit comprises contact elements for generating electrical information in cooperation with counter contact elements of the information providing unit. The contact elements are mechanically movable for closing electric contacts within the reading unit.
