PURPOSE: A short arc discharge lamp is provided to prevent a hole from being created at an electrode leading end portion by arranging a sheet shaped regulation member in the enclosure of an electrode. CONSTITUTION: An electrode body(15) consists of a container member(16) and a cover member(17). An enclosure(18) is formed in an electrode body. A regulation member(2) forms into a pair of sheets which is crossed. The regulation member rotates the convection of a melting insulator at a circumferential direction. A sheet shaped regulation member is inserted within the enclosure of an electrode(12).
