Hydraulic bi-directional rotary isolation valve

A bi-directional valve for use as a downhole casing isolation valve is described. A housing has a fluid flow path and a valve seat having a valve seating surface. A valve element has an outer cylindrical surface and a valve seating area on the outer cylindrical surface adapted to engage the valve seating surface on the valve seat so as to seal the valve in both directions.
