The present invention relates to an in vitro method for the production of a homologous heart valve comprising the steps of provision of a biodegradable support, colonization of the support with homologous fibroblasts and/or myofibroblasts to form a connective tissue matrix, optional colonization of the connective tissue matrix with endothelial cells, fixing of the matrix to a non-degradable or poorly degradable frame construction, and incubation in a pulsatile flow chamber.
