APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR EXTRACTING FLUORESCENCE PATTERN FOR AUTOMATIC PAPER MONEY INSPECTION

PURPOSE: An apparatus and method for extracting a fluorescent pattern for an automatic paper money inspection are provided to accurately check forgery by inspecting the fluorescent pattern of paper money. CONSTITUTION: A fluorescent pattern inspecting apparatus(200) includes a color separator(220), a histogram processor(230), an image separator(240), a fluorescent pattern extractor(250), and a standard pattern matching unit(270). The color separator receives a UV image of paper money from a camera and separates red and green images from the UV image except the blue image. The histogram processor calculates a histogram about the red and green images. The image separator separates the red and green images to a plurality of brightness values which represent a background and a fluorescent pattern by using the calculated histogram as a Gaussian synthesis model. The fluorescent pattern extractor extracts the fluorescent pattern from the image separated to the plurality of brightness values. The standard pattern matching unit calculates a matching rate by template-matching the extracted fluorescent pattern with a standard pattern and checks forgery by comparing the calculated matching rate with a preset threshold.
