摘要 <p>The invention relates to a process and a device for performing arc weldings in railways. According to the invention, the process consists in the electric welding of two steel railways, in the presence of some refractory moulds, the ends of the rails being preheated at a temperature of 350...400°C on a length of about 250 mm, allover the surface, after the preheating there being performed the welding, while welding in the first place the rail flanges to one another, the welding seam starting in front of the rail web and continuing to an extremity of the rail flanges and then to the other one; the electrode moves upon welding between the two flanges, in order to achieve the connection between the two surfaces thereof, the so formed assembly being maintained, before trimming, to cool for at least 45 minutes. The device claimed by the invention consists of two refractory moulds () placed around the ends of two rails () to be welded, a base plate () being placed under the flange of the ends of the rails () by means of some devices (), where the moulds () attached to the rails () by means of other devices () envelope the outline of the rails (), having the role of closing the space formed between the ends of the rails () and retaining the molten steel, produced by an electric arc, inside the channel of the rail () there being mounted a protective plug () which provides the achievement of the welding geometry and prevents material loss.</p>
