发明名称 Improvements in and relating to regenerative furnaces
摘要 338,788. Reiner, O. Jan. 10, 1929, [Convention date]. Valves, reversing. - In cowl reversing gear particularly for Martin furnaces, to prevent loss of gas during reversal, a damper in the gas supply pipe is operated from the driving mechanism of the reversing gear in such a manner that it is closed with a jerk immediately before the cowl leaves the water seal and opened with a jerk immediately after the cowl has re-entered. the water seal. The cowl 6 spans two of the flues 5, 7, 4 and takes into a hydraulic seal S into which the casing 3 also depends. Parallel links 11 carry the cowl and, are connected to a sector 10 meshing with a rack 9 on a reversing rod 8. From the rack 9 extends a bar 13 which operates quick-action mechanism to open and close the damper 12 in the gas supply pipe 1. The bar 13 moves a slide 14 having arms 15 connected by a rod 16 on which slides freely a finger 17 integral with a rack 18 meshing with a pinion 21 on the shaft 23 of the damper 12. Springs 19, 20 extend between the arms 15 and the finger 17. A disc 22 fixed to the shaft 23 of the damper has three notches 24 arranged at angles of 90‹ into one of which takes a latch 26 on a slide 27 movable at right angles to the slide J4 and acted on by a compression spring 32. A pawl 28 is pivoted on the slide 27 and adapted to co-operate with detents 29, 30 on the slide 14, rocking movement of the pawl being limited by stops 31. As shown in Figs. 1 and 4, the damper 12 is open and gas flows in the direction of the arrow C while the cowl connects the regenerator passage 5 with the chimney flue 7. When the rod 8 is moved to the left, the slide 14 moves in the same direction, and before the cowl 6 leaves the seal the detent 30 has moved the pawl 28 into contact with the right-hand stop 31. On further movement of the slide 14 the slide 27 is displaced by the detent 30 and lifts the latch 26 out of the disc 22. The spring 16 being now compressed moves the rack 18 to the left by the finger 17 and the disc 22 is rotated through 90‹ until the latch 26 enters the left-hand notch 24; the damper 12 is thus closed, Fig. 5. Continued movement of the rod 8 raises the cowl from the seal and moves it to cover the flues 7, 4; immediately after the cowl' reenters the seal the detent 29 moves the pawl 28 into contact with the right-hand stop 31 and releases the disc 22 so that the damper 12 is opened by the spring 20 which has meanwhile become compressed, and the latch 26 enters the right-hand notch 24. On return of the cowl to the position shown in Fig. 1, the detent 29 first engages the pawl 28 and the left-hand stop 31 is utilized. A gas regulating valve is provided on the casing 3.
