APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR REMOVAL OF IONS

An apparatus and a method for removal of ions from water is provided. The apparatus being provided with a housing (31) having: a water inlet (32) for letting water in the housing; a water outlet (33) for letting water out of the housing; and, a stack of at least five electrodes; and, the apparatus being constructed to allow water to flow from the water inlet to the water outlet between two master electrodes (21, 22). The at least five electrodes have at least three master electrodes, each comprising a current collector connected to a power controller PC for applying an electrical potential difference between each two adjacent master electrodes; and, at least two floating electrodes (23), each located between two adjacent master electrodes. At least one floating electrode is constructed to attract ions from the water as a result of the electrical potential difference between the master electrodes (21, 22).
