<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact food product producing apparatus having a configuration simpler than before, and to provide a method of producing a food product for increasing a production efficiency. <P>SOLUTION: The food product producing apparatus includes: an extrusion device for extruding a food raw material into a plurality of rod-like food products; a cutting device including a shutter for cutting a food product from the rod-like food product; a carrying device for placing and carrying the food product; and a control unit for controlling drive of each device. In the extrusion device, a plurality of extrusion nozzles for extruding the rod-like food product are disposed zigzag along a width direction of the carrying device orthogonal to a carrying direction of the carrying device. In the cutting device, the shutter corresponding to each extrusion nozzle is disposed zigzag under the extrusion nozzle.
