摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved alignment method and a device corresponding to non-uniformiy of an edge shape of a belt. <P>SOLUTION: The method detects a first lateral interval of an edge of a belt loop supported by rollers in an apparatus using a first sensor to find an amount of a difference amount of the alignment of the edge of the belt loop relative to a known alignment position. The method also detects a second lateral interval of the edge of the belt loop in the apparatus relative to the known alignment position using a second sensor, and determines the non-linear shape of the edge of the belt loop based on the second lateral interval of the edge of the belt loop detected by the second sensor. Moreover, the method corrects the difference amount of the alignment detected by the first sensor based on the non-linear shape of the edge of the belt loop to generate a corrected difference value of the alignment and adjust the current lateral position of the belt loop in the apparatus relative to the known alignment position based on the corrected difference value of the alignment. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT
