<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simply and easily discharge foreign objects from a foreign object recovery part. <P>SOLUTION: An image reading device 9 comprises an image reading device body 900 and a document feeding device 901 connected with the image reading device body 900 via a hinge such that the document feeding device 901 can be rotated to be opened and closed. The foreign objects such as paper powder attached to a second reading unit for reading both sides of a document within the document feeding device 901 can be removed and the removed foreign objects can be discharged simply, easily, and efficiently. The document feeding device 901 is provided with: a cleaning member 96 for cleaning the foreign objects accumulated on the second reading unit; and a foreign object recovery unit 97 for recovering the foreign objects removed from the second reading unit by the cleaning member 96. The foreign object recovery unit 97 is extended toward the hinge side in a direction of crossing the direction of document feeding.
