PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface emission laser module causing no deterioration in light utilization efficiency.

SOLUTION: A surface emission laser module includes a surface emission laser element 10 including a surface emission laser formed on a substrate; a package 80 to mount the surface emission laser element thereon; and an aperture portion 73 provided on an emission side of the surface emission laser. The aperture portion has: an opening through which light of the surface emission laser passes; and a light receiving element 72 formed in a region where the opening is not provided. The opening is formed to have a rectangular shape.
